Retry sequence when burners do not light or flame is not sensed
What happens, in order
- On each heat call, the control checks that both pressure switches are open, then starts a high stage inducer pre-purge.
- After the 30-second pre-purge, the gas valve opens on high stage for an 8-second ignition trial.
- If the burners do not light or flame is not sensed, the control runs another ignition sequence.
- The control tries up to four times before entering a 1-hour lockout.
Timings and thresholds
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Ignition attempts before lockout | up to 4 |
| Lockout after failed attempts | 1 hour |
Applies to: 96V and 96MDV furnaces

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
