Hot water is cold or turns cold - Navien NCB-H

What is going on

Water at the tap stays cold or goes cold during a draw.

Likely causes

  • Draw below the 0.5 GPM needed to start DHW
  • Active error code
  • Clogged inlet filter

Check in this order

  1. Open the tap wider - the boiler needs at least 0.5 GPM to detect a DHW demand.
  2. Check the front panel for an error code and look it up.
  3. Clean the DHW cold inlet filter.
  4. Check Status Information > 15. DHW Flow while the tap is open.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
