Setting up a CH setpoint above 140°F (60°C)
What is going on
CH setpoint above 140°F on a Glow C95 or C140, up to 180°F (82°C). Needs CPVC at the boiler and parameter changes. Standard vent pipe will not take the heat.
Likely causes
- Standard PVC vent pipe at the boiler used with a high flue temperature
- Setpoint raised without limiting the flue temperature parameter
- Maximum CH setpoint parameter still at the factory limit
Check in this order
- Use CPVC for the first 6 in of straight pipe and one 90° elbow at the boiler, plus 7 equivalent ft for 2 in venting or 3 equivalent ft for 3 in venting.
- Change parameter 2.003 to the required CH setpoint.
- Change parameter 2.024 to the maximum CH setpoint.
- Change parameter 2.138 to limit the maximum flue temperature to 194°F (90°C).
- Use the Installer Menu (Section 11.6) to make the parameter changes.
- Recheck the settings after a full heating cycle.
Applies to: C95 and C140 with CH setpoint up to 180°F (82°C)

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
