Winterize and clean the condensate trap
What is going on
Condensate trap care on the Allied, for winterizing or routine cleaning. Before opening anything, turn the furnace power off. A trap can hold dirty water and sludge, so have a pan ready under it and avoid spills onto the electrical parts.

- Water left standing in a trap that can freeze
- Clean-out cap not reinstalled tightly after service
Check in this order
- Turn off power to the furnace first.
- Place a shallow pan under the trap.
- Remove the trap clean-out cap and drain the water.
- Inspect the trap for debris or growth, and clear it.
- Reinstall the clean-out cap and make sure it is snug.
- Restore power and watch for leaks on the next run.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
