Change blower speed tap
What is going on
Change the blower speed tap on the integrated control to match the heating or cooling speed needed.
Likely causes
- Temperature rise outside the range on the rating plate
- Cooling airflow too low or too high
- Duct changes after install
- Noisy or drafty registers from too much speed
Check in this order
- Turn off electrical power to the furnace, because the control board has line voltage nearby.
- Remove the blower access panel.
- Disconnect the existing speed tap from the control board speed terminal.
- Insulate any unused motor leads so they cannot touch metal.
- Place the unused speed tap on the integrated control PARK terminal or insulate it.
- Select the speed from the blower speed chart on the unit wiring diagram.
- Connect the selected speed tap to the control board speed terminal.
- Reinstall the blower access panel.
- Turn on power and recheck the temperature rise against the rating plate.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
