Upflow with vertical vent: condensate drain and intake conversion

96V96MDV

What is going on

Converts the furnace for upflow with vertical vent using only parts from the parts bag. Install the intake coupling, choose the right or left drain side, and set up the condensate drain using tube C or hose A.

Check in this order

  1. Install the intake coupling in the top plate.
  2. Choose the right or left drain side.
  3. For the drain side, remove and discard the 7/8 in. plug from the jacket side, then drill two 1/8 in. holes for the condensate drain coupling.
  4. Install the condensate drain coupling with two #8 x 1/2 in. screws, barbed fitting pointed into the vestibule.
  5. Install the hose clamp on the hose over the condensate drain coupling.
  6. Left drain attach pre-installed hose A to the condensate drain coupling.
  7. Right drain cut tube C to the cabinet width, attach it to hose A with a hose clamp, then attach the tube C assembly to the condensate drain coupling and clamp the hose over the coupling.
  8. Use soapy water to ease hose and tube assembly.
