Non-direct vent: RXGY-G02 sidewall vent kit

96V96MDV

What is going on

On the Rheem 96V/96MDV, the RXGY-G02 sidewall vent kit works for non-direct vent as well as direct vent installs. The full instructions live in the direct vent section under Option 8. Follow the manual closely, because vent work affects combustion safety and a mistake can allow flue gases into the home.

Likely causes

  • Not a fault call. Venting option for non-direct vent sidewall termination (Option 4).

  3. Follow the Option 8 direct-vent sidewall instructions for installation details.
  4. Check clearances and local code requirements before cutting the wall.
  5. After the install, run the furnace and verify the vent is sealed and tight.
  6. Test for carbon monoxide at the vent and in the house before leaving.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
