Gather parts and tools before a horizontal field conversion
What is going on
Check the parts list for the conversion you are doing before you start. Some parts come from the parts bag shipped with the unit and some come from conversion kits RXGY-CK and RXGY-ZK. Steps 1-4 of the conversion are drawn with the furnace in its as-shipped condition.
Check in this order
- Confirm which conversion you are doing (horizontal left or right, right or left vent) and pull the matching parts from the parts bag and the RXGY-CK / RXGY-ZK kits.
- Have these tools ready electric drill, 1/8 in and 3/16 in drill bits, pliers, 1/4 in and 5/16 in hex driver, flat head screwdriver, hammer, tubing cutter, PVC glue and primer.
- Keep the removed elbow, couplings and hose D for reuse, as the steps direct.
- Discard the parts the steps mark as discard.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority. HVACopedia is not affiliated with any manufacturer; brand and model names only identify the equipment.
