Filter clip and rack use by cabinet width

UH1/DH1

What is going on

Table 6 in the Trane guide sorts out which return positions take the standard filter rack and which need the alternate clips. It trips people up because the answer changes with cabinet width. Worth checking before you cut or order parts.

Likely causes

  • Not a fault call. Parts selection by cabinet width.

Check in this order

  1. On the 14.5 in cabinet, use alternate filter clips only, for the side return.
  2. On 17.5, 21 and 24.5 in cabinets, the rack fits left side, bottom and right side returns.
  3. For a UC1B060C with 10x7 blower, use alternate filter clips for the left side filter. K1 and later use the filter rack.
  4. Remove the bottom front channel to install or reposition the filter rack on the affected cabinet widths.
  5. Measure the cabinet width first and match it to Table 6.
  6. Confirm the filter seals in the rack so air cannot bypass it.
