Adjust gas valve manifold pressure
What is going on
Set manifold pressure with a gauge on the White-Rodgers 36G or 36J valve.
Check in this order
- Turn off all electrical power to the system.
- Attach a manifold pressure gauge with flexible tubing to the outlet pressure boss marked OUT P.
- Loosen the pressure tap test set screw one turn with a 3/32 in. hex wrench. Do not remove it.
- Turn on power and energize the valve.
- Remove the regulator cover screw. Turn the adjust screw clockwise to raise pressure or counterclockwise to lower it, until the gauge matches the value in the manifold pressure table.
- Replace and tighten the regulator cover screw.
- Cycle the valve several times and recheck the setting; repeat if needed.
- Turn off power, remove the gauge and tubing, and tighten the pressure tap screw.
- Leak check the outlet boss and pressure tap screw with soap solution.
- Turn on power and check unit operation.

Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
