Direct vent: angled horizontal terminations (22° or 45°)
What is going on
Optional termination angles apply only to Options 4 and 5. Do not use angled terminations with any other option. Angled terminations cannot be used on paired vents, and they must not be angled into an inside corner.
Check in this order
- Set both the combustion air and exhaust final elbows at the same angle (22° or 45°) and the same direction (left or right).
- Install a wind vane in the combustion air inlet pipe.
- Mark the final angles on the vertical risers and final elbows before gluing.
- Use rigid support straps at the recommended spacing.
- Do not angle into an inside corner.
- Do not use screens on intake or exhaust.
- Use 2 in pipe for wall penetrations and terminations to reduce ice formation; 18 in maximum of 2 in pipe inside when using 3 in vent.
- Insulate the exhaust riser if needed for the total length and local temperatures.
Applies to: Options 4 and 5 only

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
