Canadian Hydronic Air Handler

What happens, in order

  1. Thermostat calls for cooling and closes R to G
  2. Blower relay contacts close and the indoor blower starts
  3. R to Y/Y2 closes and the outdoor unit contactor pulls in
  4. On a heat pump, R to O energizes the reversing valve to cooling (depends on the outdoor unit)
  5. Thermostat is satisfied and the call ends

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
