Upflow vertical install - drain exit side
What is going on
Upflow GMVC96 family furnace standing vertical. Leave the condensate trap and hoses the way the factory ran them. Drain can come out left or right. Don't let it hold water.
Likely causes
- Not a fault call. Setup notes for the drain exit on a vertical upflow.
Check in this order
- Leave the trap and factory hoses as shipped, no re-routing.
- Pick right or left side. Both sides have two 0.875 in holes, usable for drain or low voltage wiring.
- Need the exit higher? Add a 0.875 in hole in the marked cutout area.
- Seal whatever cabinet opening you don't use, so no air leaks in or out.
- Run the drain hose with a steady fall. No sags, no low spots holding water.
- After hookup, run a heat cycle and look for drips at the hose connections.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
