Invalid memory card data

ACVC96AMVC96GCVC96GMVC96

What is going on

This one shows up when the control module looked at the shared data set on the memory card and refused it. Usually the card doesn't match the furnace model, or the data didn't load right. It's an easy fix if you've got the right card.

Likely causes

  • The integrated control module rejected the shared data set on the memory card
  • Card is for a different model, or the data got corrupted

Check in this order

  1. Verify the shared data set is correct for the specific model. Re-populate using the correct memory card if needed.
  2. Turn power off before you start the repair.
  3. Use the memory card made for that specific model.
  4. Insert the memory card before you turn power on.
  5. Power up so the data loads, then turn power off again.
  6. The error clears once data is loaded and power is turned off.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
