Internal gas valve error (valve energized when it should not be)
What is going on
Gas valve energized with no call. Bad one. Valve shouldn't have power unless the control asks. Kill power first.
Likely causes
- Miswired gas valve circuit
- Shorted gas valve wiring putting voltage on the valve
- Gas valve relay on the integrated control board stuck, not following the call
Check in this order
- Power off before you touch it.
- Check the wiring in the gas valve circuit, look for pinched or shorted leads.
- Compare to the wiring diagram, find any miswire.
- With the thermostat satisfied, power up and see if the valve still gets voltage.
- Voltage with no call, control relay is the problem. Replace the integrated control board with the correct part.
- If gas flows with no call, shut the gas off and bring in a licensed tech.
Applies to: 34.5 in chassis gas furnaces

- Airflow lower than demanded, furnace runs on low stage when high stage is expected
- Alternate combustion air opening (upflow or horizontal)
- Alternate vent/flue location (upflow or horizontal left)

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
