Blower motor fails to start after 10 consecutive tries
What is going on
Circulator blower motor tried to start ten times in a row and failed, so the furnace is down.
Likely causes
- Obstruction in the circulator blower housing, so the wheel can't turn
- Seized circulator blower motor bearings, because a dry bearing locks up
- Failed circulator blower motor
Check in this order
- Turn power off before repair.
- Pull the blower and look in the housing for debris or anything jamming the wheel. Remove it.
- Spin the wheel and shaft by hand, since a tight or locked shaft means seized bearings.
- Replace the motor with the correct replacement part if it is seized or failed.
- Replace the wheel with the correct part if it is damaged or out of balance.
- Restore power and confirm the blower starts and runs smoothly.
Applies to: 34.5 in chassis gas furnaces

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
