Blower motor does not have enough information, fails to start 40 consecutive times
What is going on
The blower motor failed to start 40 times in a row, and the control says it lacks the information to run it properly. That can mean a data problem in the control module or a rotor that is locked up. Shut off power and confirm the circuit is dead before opening up the blower compartment.
Likely causes
- Error with the integrated control module, such as missing or wrong shared data
- Motor has a locked rotor condition
Check in this order
- Turn power off before repair and confirm it with a meter.
- Check the integrated control module and verify it holds the correct shared data set.
- Check for a locked rotor condition by turning the wheel by hand, and correct it.
- Use the memory card for the specific model if data needs to be reloaded.
- Replace the motor with the correct replacement part if needed.
- Restore power and confirm the blower starts normally.
Applies to: 34.5 in chassis gas furnaces

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority. HVACopedia is not affiliated with any manufacturer; brand and model names only identify the equipment.
