Remote control: pairing / code setting and multiple remotes
What is going on
How to code the hand-held to the receiver; receiver gives a single (possibly faint) beep when it learns the code.
Likely causes
- Code not learned
- Interference from another remote within 50 ft
Check in this order
- Set the code switch on the transmitter before installing batteries.
- Put the receiver in 'remote' position.
- Install batteries; while the transmitter LCD blinks, press any button standing about five feet from the unit.
- Listen for one beep from the receiver (may be faint inside the fireplace); repeat if no beep.
- Multiple units within 50 ft: program one at a time, turn the others off, use a different code switch combination on each, and stand twenty feet from other running remotes.
- Receiver keeps the code through power outages and battery changes.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
