Blower noisy, vibrating or rattling
What is going on
Fireplace convection blower makes noise.
Likely causes
- Speed switch out of calibration
- Running on high
- Dirty fins
- Drywall dust in bearings
- Loose mounting
- No vibration pad
- Wires touching fins
Check in this order
- Noisy on low recalibrate the variable speed switch - meter on the blower terminals, switch on 'low', turn calibration screw until it reads 93 volts.
- Noisy on high lower the speed.
- Clean the fins with a duster, brush or vacuum.
- After drywall/construction work, dust may be in the bearings - clean or replace the blower.
- Vibrating tighten blower screws and wingnut; install a vibration pad if the installation instructions call for one.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
