E1 High pressure protection / high-pressure sensor fault
What the control is telling you
On the wall units E1 means the system tripped on excessive high-side pressure. On the Ultranixx outdoor units, E1 is the high-pressure protection trip, and lower-case e1 means the high-pressure sensor signal is out of range for 30 s. In protection mode the compressor stops.
Applies to: Kinghome KM09HT1DI, KM12HT1DI, KM18HT1DI, KM24HT1DI wall mini-splits; Kinghome KM09HF1DI to KM24HF1DI wall mini-splits (Gree GFH..DA/DB); Kinghome Ultranixx Eco KD24UHO to KD60UHO outdoor units with KD..UHI air handlers; Kinghome Ultranixx cold-climate KU36UHO and KU60UHO outdoor units with KU..UH2I and KD..UHI air handlers
Likely causes
- Overcharge of refrigerant
- Dirty coils or poor airflow, hot ambient
- Closed service valve, blocked line, or blocked indoor filter or duct in heating
- Outdoor or indoor fan not running correctly
- Faulty high-pressure switch or pressure sensor, or loose sensor plug (e1)
Test and repair steps
- Clean filters and coils and clear any airflow obstruction.
- Verify both fans run at the right speed.
- Make sure the service valves are fully open and the lines are not restricted.
- Check the charge against the nameplate; recover refrigerant if overcharged.
- Test the high-pressure switch or sensor and its plug; replace if faulty.
- If all is normal, check the control board.
