Lennox · Gas fireplace troubleshooting
First start-up: pilot slow to light - Lennox Elite LDV
What is going on
On the first start the pilot does not light right away.
Likely causes
- Air in the new gas line
Check in this order
- Safety gas work by a licensed gas fitter only. Shut the gas off at the fireplace shutoff before opening fittings.
- A new gas line is full of air, so the first light-off can take several minutes. Let the control keep retrying.
- Watch that the igniter lights the pilot and the pilot flame wraps around the flame sensor rod.
- Leak test all factory and field joints with leak solution while it runs. Never use a flame.
- If it will not light after purging, turn the gas off and call service.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
