Yellow 3 flashes Short cycling (older ComfortNet board)
What the control is telling you
Yellow LED 3 flashes, green and red off: the last 4 cycles each ran under 3 minutes without a protector trip. Same as code 03 on newer boards.
Applies to: Earlier ComfortNet condensers/heat pumps with the PCBHR101-103 or PBBGR101-102 outdoor control (green, yellow and red status LEDs) - ASXC/DSXC/ASZC/DSZC revisions before the PCBHR104 change
Likely causes
- Intermittent thermostat call
- Faulty compressor relay on the control
Test and repair steps
- Warning: Kill power to the outdoor unit before touching wiring, the compressor terminals or the control.
- Check thermostat and wiring for intermittent contact.
- Check the compressor relay; replace the control if needed.
- Clears after 4 normal cycles or a 24 VAC power cycle.
