EAF R-32 sensor communication lost - mitigation mode
What the control is telling you
The furnace lost communication with the R-32 refrigerant sensor on the indoor coil and went into mitigation mode: gas heat stops and only the fan runs.
Applies to: Daikin DR96TN (upflow/horizontal) and DD96TN (downflow/horizontal) two-stage 96% furnaces with 9-speed ECM motor, R-32 ready
Likely causes
- Furnace not paired with an R-32 cooling unit but A2L function still enabled
- R-32 sensor wire loose or unplugged
- Damaged sensor wire
- Failed R-32 sensor
Test and repair steps
- No R-32 system with this furnace? Turn the A2L function off: use left/right to reach A2E, press the center button, pick no, then confirm.
- Check that the R-32 sensor wire is plugged into the furnace control board and the sensor.
- Inspect the sensor wire for damage - it should run with the thermostat wires and away from the flue pipe and hot surfaces.
- Replace the R-32 sensor if wiring is good.
