PC0A Condenser high temperature protection

Medium severity Carrier DLCM(R/H)B multi-zone outdoorCarrier DLFSHB high wall indoor

What the control is telling you

Outdoor coil pipe reached 149 F (65 C), so the unit shut off. It restarts below 125.6 F (52 C). Outdoor board shows P5; 48K HH shows J0.

Applies to: DLCM(R/H)B multi-zone outdoor units with DLFSHBH high wall indoor units (Midea, Carrier, Viessmann)

Likely causes

  • Bad T3 sensor
  • Dirty coil / poor airflow
  • Outdoor fan problem
  • Restriction

Test and repair steps

  1. Safety kill power at the disconnect and wait for the inverter capacitors to discharge before touching boards or wiring.
  2. Check the condenser (T3) sensor connection and resistance (about 10 kOhm at 77 F).
  3. If outdoor air is above 122 F (50 C), the unit is outside its range: shut it down.
  4. Check outdoor airflow, clean the coil, and make sure the outdoor fan runs (see EC07 if not).
  5. Check the charge. If low, find the leak and add refrigerant. If all good, replace the outdoor main board.
