PC02 Compressor top overheat (OLP)
What the control is telling you
The overload protector on top of the compressor opened (top above about 194 F / 90 C). Outdoor board shows P0; 48K HH shows P2. Note: the indoor manual's flow chart page for PC02 talks about IPM overheat instead; the error tables in both manuals say compressor top.
Applies to: DLCM(R/H)B multi-zone outdoor units with DLFSHBH high wall indoor units (Midea, Carrier, Viessmann)
Likely causes
- Poor indoor or outdoor airflow
- Low charge or restriction
- Bad OLP or loose OLP plug
- Bad PCB
Test and repair steps
- Safety kill power at the disconnect and wait for the inverter capacitors to discharge before touching boards or wiring.
- Check indoor and outdoor airflow clear the inlets, outlets and coils.
- Leave power off 10 minutes so the compressor cools, then check whether the top is still above 194 F (90 C).
- Check the overload protector (OLP) plug and wiring. With the compressor cool, the OLP should read 0 ohms; open = replace the OLP.
- Check the refrigerant side for a leak or restriction and repair.
- If OLP and system are good, replace the outdoor control PCB.
