PC06 Discharge temperature protection

High severity Carrier DLCM(R/H)B multi-zone outdoorCarrier DLFSHB high wall indoor

What the control is telling you

Discharge temperature stayed above 239 F (115 C) for 10 s; the compressor stops and restarts once it falls below 194 F (90 C). Outdoor board shows P4; 48K HH shows J2. The indoor manual lists a 226 F (108 C) / 9 s shutoff for its matched outdoor units.

Applies to: DLCM(R/H)B multi-zone outdoor units with DLFSHBH high wall indoor units (Midea, Carrier, Viessmann)

Likely causes

  • Low charge / leak
  • Bad discharge sensor
  • Sensor wiring
  • Bad outdoor PCB

Test and repair steps

  1. Safety kill power at the disconnect and wait for the inverter capacitors to discharge before touching boards or wiring.
  2. Confirm the discharge temperature really is high (over 239 F / 115 C) with a contact thermometer.
  3. Check the discharge sensor plug and wiring against the diagram, and measure the sensor (about 54.9 kOhm at 77 F).
  4. Check for a leak / low charge. Repair the leak and recharge.
  5. If charge and sensor are good, replace the outdoor main PCB.
