Sidewall concentric or low profile exhaust location

TRX

What is going on

Sidewall concentric or low profile termination, layout rule. Exhaust and intake spacing matters here. Wrong spacing means flue gas gets pulled back into the intake. Follow the manual over the kit sheet.

Likely causes

  • Exhaust terminal too close to the air intake
  • Kit sheet clearances followed instead of the TRX manual clearances
  • Terminal placed where wind or snow can recirculate flue gas

Check in this order

  1. Keep the exhaust terminal at least 18 in above the air intake termination.
  2. Assemble per the kit instructions.
  3. Where the kit sheet and the manual disagree, the manual clearances win.
  4. Check the finished terminal against the manual figure before you leave.
  5. Look for snow drift or shrubs near the termination.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
