Installation checklist sign-off (commissioning)
What is going on
What I usually see at handover is a boiler that runs fine but nobody wrote anything down. This checklist is the sign-off that fixes that. It covers wiring, supply voltage, startup, the flame and combustion numbers, and the final approval signature. Do it on every TRX150 before you leave the job, because it is a lot cheaper than the callback. The common miss is skipping the combustion analyzer and trusting your eyes on the flame.
Likely causes
- Wiring not matching the boiler wiring diagram, or polarity reversed
- Supply voltage off from the 120 V AC on the rating plate
- Custom site parameters set but never tested
- Flame or combustion values not verified with an analyzer
- Paperwork left unsigned
Check in this order
- Confirm wiring follows the boiler wiring diagram, polarity is correct, and supply voltage matches the rating plate (120 V AC).
- Confirm the boiler has been started and the gas valve adjusted if needed.
- Confirm the installation has been set up for the site and all customized parameters have been tested.
- Confirm proper boiler operation through a full call for heat.
- Check the burner flame through the sight glass. Verify combustion values with a calibrated combustion analyzer.
- If the flame does not look normal, have a qualified service technician clean it. See the flame sight glass window.
- Leak-check gas joints one more time and look over the condensate line and vent connections.
- Sign and date the final installation approval.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority. HVACopedia is not affiliated with any manufacturer; brand and model names only identify the equipment.
