Install exhaust vent or intake pipe into the boiler collar
What is going on
Putting the vent or intake pipe into the boiler collar on an NTI TRX is simple, but the joint has to seal or you will have flue gas leaks. It uses a gasket and a clamp, not cement. Take your time and check it is tight before you move on.
Likely causes
- Pipe cut crooked or not deburred, so the gasket doesn't seal
- Primer or cement on the boiler connection
- Clamp not tight
Check in this order
- Cut the pipe square and bevel the edges 1/16 to 1/8 in. Deburr the pipe.
- Clean and dry the boiler connection. Do not put primer or cement on it.
- Lubricate the gasket.
- Push the pipe in until it touches the bottom of the fitting.
- Tighten the clamps with a screwdriver.
- Check the pipe is secure before continuing.

Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
