E6.2 Ground not detected
What the control is telling you
The incoming earth or chassis ground is missing or poor, which also upsets flame sensing.
Applies to: Trane S8V2 (80%, 2-stage, variable speed, Link) and S8B1 / S8X1 / S8X2 (80%, 1- and 2-stage)
Likely causes
- Missing equipment ground
- Loose ground screws inside the furnace
- Neutral/ground problem at the panel
Test and repair steps
- Power off at the disconnect.
- Measure from incoming black to chassis ground at the burner box: about 120 V expected.
- If not, repair the earth ground; check continuity of all ground connections inside the cabinet.
- Correct any neutral-ground issue; the furnace must be on its own dedicated circuit.
