E229 Ignition on high fire
What the control is telling you
Control switched to high-fire ignition because the low-fire pressure switch did not close in time. Informational.
Applies to: EL296UHV(X) series furnaces (integrated control 103130-XX and 107045-XX)
Likely causes
- Low supply voltage
- Low outdoor temperature
- Marginal low-fire pressure differential
Test and repair steps
- No repair is required for this code by itself.
- Sequence if the low-fire switch does not close, the inducer goes to high, the high-fire switch closes after the 15 s pre-purge and the furnace lights on high fire, switching to low fire after 10-20 seconds.
- If it repeats often, check line voltage (97-132 VAC hot to neutral) and supply voltage under load.
- Check the vent system and condensate drainage, and measure low-fire pressure switch differential against the set-point tables.
