Fan delay defeat toggle Switch the post-defrost outdoor fan delay off or on

Menu / mode display KeepRite *CA/*CH Two-Stage Communicating

What the display is showing

Normally the outdoor fan stays off 20 seconds after defrost ends so the heat from the coil is picked up and less steam cloud forms. Shorting the forced-defrost pins for more than 15 seconds while the board is idle (amber LED solid) toggles this delay. The setting is kept through power loss.

Applies to: *CA/*CH two-stage communicating heat pump boards

What to do

  1. With the unit in standby (amber LED on solid), short the FORCED DEFROST pins for more than 15 seconds.
  2. The LED starts flashing when the toggle has taken place: 4 flashes = delay defeated, 3 flashes = 20 s delay active.
  3. Remove the short. The code stays up until the short is removed and for about 5 seconds after.
  4. If you got the wrong state, repeat the toggle.
