E3 Low pressure protection

High severity Gree Livo GEN4Gree Vireo GEN3Gree Multi21+Gree GMV6 Mini VRF

What the control is telling you

The system stopped on low suction pressure (GMV6: suction below about 10 psi saturation). On the Multi21+ the code is listed as reserved.

Applies to: Gree Livo GEN4 30-36k (4LIV..HP230V1A), Vireo GEN3 9-24k (3VIR..HP115/230V1A), Multi21+ 18-24k multi-zone (MULTI..HP230V1CO), GMV6 Ultra Heat Mini VRF 36-60k (GMV-V..WL/C-T(U))

Likely causes

  • Refrigerant leak or undercharge
  • Service valves not fully open
  • Dirty coils, filters or blower wheel
  • Expansion valve not feeding or restriction in the line set
  • Faulty low-pressure switch or sensor
  • Very low outdoor temperature

Test and repair steps

  1. Make sure both service valves are fully open.
  2. Clean the filters, coils and blower wheel.
  3. With the unit off, compare static pressure with outdoor temperature; if pressure is low, leak-check, recover and weigh in the charge.
  4. Check for frost spots that point to a restriction or a stuck EEV.
  5. GMV6 compare the low-pressure transducer output with the Appendix 3 voltage chart; no 5 VDC feed to the sensor points to the main board.
