L2 Lockout - high pressure switch tripped 3 times
What the control is telling you
The high pressure switch opened 3 times in one thermostat call and the control locked out the outdoor unit. (The manual's symptom column says low pressure switch here - treat as a misprint; the fault name is high pressure lockout.)
Applies to: Communicating 2-stage condensers and heat pumps with the PCBHR104 or PCBHR105 outdoor control (7-segment display): ASXC16/18, GSXC16/18, DSXC16/18, ASZC16/18, GSZC16/18, DSZC16/18
Likely causes
- Dirty or blocked outdoor coil
- Outdoor fan motor not running
- Outdoor fan wiring or capacitor failure
- Faulty high pressure switch
Test and repair steps
- Warning: Kill power to the outdoor unit before touching wiring, the compressor terminals or the control.
- Clean the outdoor coil and clear anything blocking air to or from the unit.
- Check the outdoor fan motor runs; check its wiring and run capacitor and replace failed parts.
- Test the high pressure switch (opens 610 +/- 10 psig, closes 420 +/- 25 psig).
- To reset a lockout, interrupt the 24 VAC supply to the outdoor control (power cycle the low voltage), then retest.
