Start protection and compressor stop rules

DLFSHB high wall

What happens, in order

  1. First power-up compressor start is held up to 10 s; later restarts wait up to 3 minutes
  2. Compressor preheats automatically when outdoor sensor T4 is below the setpoint
  3. Cooling compressor stops when calculated frequency is below the minimum, the 10 minute protection time is over and room temperature T1 is at or below setpoint minus about 2 C
  4. Heating compressor stops when room temperature reaches setpoint plus about 2 C under the same frequency and time conditions
  5. Heating indoor fan follows the anti-cold-wind function so cold air is not blown at the start
  6. Compressor shuts off if discharge temperature stays above 226 F (108 C) for 9 s
  7. Indoor fan trips the unit if fan speed is below 200 RPM or above 2100 RPM for an extended time

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
