Communicating low and high stage cooling

Goodman ComfortNet communicating (ASXCGSXCDSXC with AVPTC)

What happens, in order

  1. Thermostat sends Y requesting cooling; the air handler control passes a low stage request over the network to the condenser UC control
  2. UC control processes compressor and fan delays
  3. UC control asks the air handler for low stage fan speed
  4. Condenser starts compressor and condenser fan at low stage
  5. If low stage cannot meet the load, the board asks for high stage; air handler raises blower speed
  6. UC control energizes the high stage compressor solenoid and puts the condenser fan on high
  7. Demand met condenser stops compressor and fan; air handler keeps the blower for any cool off delay
  8. Control may skip low stage and start on high
  9. Each side stops if the request for operation is not refreshed within 5 minutes (runaway protection)

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
