The compressor drive module tripped on a fault.

Likely causes

  • Supply voltage out of range
  • Compressor wires loose or wrong order
  • Compressor winding fault
  • High load, dirty coils, fan problems or overcharge
  • Inverter board fault

Test and repair steps

  1. Warning: Kill power and let the outdoor board capacitors bleed down (about 20 min, or meter the DC bus below 20 V) before touching the inverter board.
  2. Check supply at L-N is within 210-250 VAC.
  3. Check compressor U/V/W wiring and order.
  4. Measure winding resistance (balanced) and insulation to copper (over 500 ohm).
  5. Clean coils, check fans, check for high pressure or overcharge.
  6. If it does not clear after several power resets (wait about 10 min each), replace the outdoor board or compressor as found.
