Split A/C: cooling cycle with standard thermostat or communicating control
What happens, in order
- Thermostat makes R-Y and R-G on a call for cooling
- R-Y energizes the contactor, starting outdoor fan and compressor
- R-G energizes the indoor blower relay, starting the indoor blower on high speed
- Thermostat satisfied contactor and blower relay drop out and compressor and fan stop
- If the indoor unit has a time-delay relay the blower runs 90 s more
- With a communicating wall control the outdoor board applies a 5 minute start delay; with a 2-wire hookup this delay is only 10 s
- Outdoor fan keeps running 1 minute after the compressor stops if outdoor air is 100 F or higher
