PLEASE WAIT stays on, or an error shows about 2 minutes after power-up
What is going on
For about 2 minutes after power-up the remote shows PLEASE WAIT while the system starts - that is normal. If it is followed by an error code, or the screen stays blank with the ON button doing nothing, there is a wiring or protection problem.
Likely causes
- Outdoor unit protection device connector not plugged in
- Reversed or missing phase on the outdoor power terminal block (3-phase units)
- S1-S2-S3 polarity wrong between indoor and outdoor
- Remote controller wire shorted
Check in this order
- Wait 2 minutes after power-up before testing (and about 30 seconds after leaving function settings).
- Check the outdoor board LEDs LED1 and LED2 blinking together after 2 minutes means a wiring or protection fault.
- Check the protection device connector on the outdoor board.
- Check the S1-S2-S3 wiring matches terminal for terminal.
- Check the remote controller wire for a short.
Applies to: PEAD-RP35/50/60/71/100/125/140JA and JA(L) ducted indoor units (220-240 V models)

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority.
