2nd digit 9 High drive compressor IPM temperature (A1000AA board)

On A1000AA boards the right-hand 7-segment digit shows the fault and the left digit shows status; this value means: high drive compressor ipm temperature. Manual gives only the meaning; steps are general checks.

Likely causes

Test and repair steps
- Warning: After power off, wait 2 minutes - the inverter can hold 400 VDC. Confirm under 42 VDC at the +DC/-DC test points before touching the board.
- Check that the drive heat sink and outdoor coil are clean and airflow is not blocked (5 ft above, 12 in. from walls).
- Check the outdoor fan runs at speed.
- Confirm high ambient is not above the 120 F cooling limit.
