Pump service mode to purge air

Boiler · Elite EL

Run each pump by hand to bleed the system.

  1. Disconnect the wires on the THERMOSTAT terminals
  2. Apply power
  3. Press the down arrow and ENTER together for 1 second: CH pump runs
  4. Press the up arrow: DHW pump; again: system pump (cascade master)
  5. Down and up together returns to normal

Test mode (fixed-fire, gas pressure and combustion)

Boiler · Elite EL

Run the boiler outside normal modulation.

  1. Create heat demand by opening zones
  2. Press the up arrow and ENTER together for 1 second
  3. Boiler goes through ignition, then use up/down to raise or lower fan speed (SERVICE RUN rpm)
  4. Exit with up and down arrows together; exits by itself after 20 minutes

Reset & cancel

Clearing lockouts, service reminders and fault history; skipping purge or de-air programs.

Reset a lockout

Boiler · Elite EL

How to clear fault lockouts.

  1. Fix the cause first
  2. Press RESET for more than 1 second
  3. F01 with LWCO: reset the LWCO box first, then the display
  4. F01 flue switch: push the red button on the switch (flue below 90 F)
  5. PP: press RESET to start the control

Reset the maintenance reminder

Boiler · Elite EL

Clear MAINTENANCE REQUIRED after service.

  1. Hold ENTER 3 seconds (code stays 000)
  2. Press ENTER again to reach SERVICE SCHEDULE RESET
  3. Use the right arrow to pick Year or Hours
  4. Press ENTER to reset, adjust with up/down, press ENTER

Commissioning

Start-up and set-up steps that are easy to miss.

Cascade set-up

Boiler · Elite EL

Address boilers for a cascade.

  1. Master: function 15 = 0, function 23 = 926 Boiler
  2. Followers: function 15 = 1, 2, ... (no duplicates), function 23 = 926 Boiler
  3. A follower with an indirect tank must be address 2 or higher
  4. Master and follower set points must match
  5. Daisy-chain CAT3/CAT5 cables, max 200 ft

Check thermostat circuit for stray voltage

Boiler · Elite EL

Common wiring fault with zone valves.

  1. Disconnect the two thermostat wires from the boiler
  2. Meter across them with thermostats and zone valves closed one at a time
  3. There must be no voltage
  4. Fix external wiring if any voltage shows

Start-up combustion and gas checks

Boiler · Elite EL

Items to record at light-off.

  1. Static and light-off drop gas pressure (3.5 to 14 in. w.c., max 1 in. drop)
  2. Flame current at high and low fire
  3. CO2 and CO at high and low fire against the combustion table
  4. Fill condensate trap with water before first start
  5. Pressurize 12 to 15 psi

Read fault history

Last ten lockouts with date and time.

  1. From the default screen press the right arrow
  2. Press the down arrow to step through the status screens
  3. The last ten lockouts follow, newest first, alternating with the fault code
